Every day there are free ads on craigslist and other sites around the internet where people are desperate to get rid of their pets for one reason or another. Maybe "he" turned into a "she" and had 10 babies, or you're forced to move and can't take your animals with you, or you just realized that you don't have the time or money for that new pet. We're here to help. Unlike some places, we don't judge you for your reasoning to rehome your pet. We've had and bred small animals off and on for the last 12 years and have seen and heard many stories of animals who were no longer wanted or cared for, and have helped out when and where we could. In 2011 we took in 40 rabbits who were in desperate need of medical and general care and rehomed all but 2 of those rabbits. We've also taken in stray cats, dogs, ducks, chickens, goats, birds, chinchillas and an array of small animals, including reptiles. Due to space restraints we're now unable to take in cats and large dogs, though have friends in rescue where we can house the livestock on loving family farms. We do take in sick and injured animals, though if they're bad enough we do the kind thing and end their suffering after evaluation. Again, we don't judge, we realize that animals are below your family's needs when it comes to finances and what you're able to do. We DO ask that if you're housing male and female animals together and just dumping unsold babies that you do the responsible thing and seperate the animals if you cannot care for any resulting babies.
A lot of people ask how we can rescue AND breed AND sell our OWN raised animals as feeders. It's fairly simple, my main passion is my breeding program. We try and do things the simple farm/country way, raising our own food and also healthy food for our own as well as other peoples' pets. This includes rabbits, rats, mice, chickens etc. It's easier on the animals who've been born and raised in a home with people who loved them when it's their time to go instead of the animals scared in slaughter houses or being carted to and from places with people possibly mistreating them and then ending their lives having never known treats or kindness. All animals in our care are handled on a regular basis, fed and watered daily and given treats and love just like any other pet. To date, we've only sold 5 rabbits as feeders, and 1 of those was kept as a pet in the end because it was so easy to handle. When we first started our breeding program back in 2008, we realized people were getting rabbits and other small pets from petstores or feed stores and they were dying shortly after or were having behavioural issues. The simple fact is, most of those animals are bought from breeders who don't give their animals much time and attention, or mass breeders who're just in it for the money. We started trading people their untamed rabbits for our tamed ones, and just taking in animals who people couldn't handle or care for any longer. We realized early on that there is a need for this, that people can't always keep their pets, which is why not only do we have a 100% guarantee that we'll always take back any animal we've sold in any point in it's life, but we'll take in other animals as well. Most of these animals just need some handling and a little TLC and then are rehomed to loving familes who will care for the animals. So, simple answer is, we breed because we love to, we rescue because we have to, and we sell as feeders because it's the natural way of things. The only thing I guarantee that we will never ever do is sell or use peoples' former pets as meat/feeders. Some people do this and I believe it's underhanded and sneaky to take them on a premise of giving them a good home and putting them into the freezer instead. If I can't find a home for an animal, it stays here. We've had plenty of fat lazy house pets over the years, so a few more won't hurt. We also never send animals to the livestock auctions or sales, we meet the buyers of our animals face to face to answer any questions or concerns they may have and assist them in any way possible so that they and their new pet have a long happy life together. Many of our self-bred rabbits have went on to be in 4h and even won some ribbons!

Why we do this....
Below are 2 of our first 2012 rescue bunnies and their story. We're hoping that by offering people a place to take their unwanted animals, we can prevent things like this from happening...
